Feline Panleukopenia
Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper) is a viral disease of cats that causes vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and anorexia. Cats may also sneeze or have a discharge from their eyes or nose. This is not a new disease but an outbreak of an established cat disease. The virus is spread primarily by feces or mucus from infected cats and survives for long periods (years) in the environment. We recommend an FVRCP booster if your cat has not been vaccinated in over 1 year. Kittens need a series of vaccines for full immunity. We recommend keeping all unvaccinated cats indoors until they have completed all recommended vaccines. The vaccine is highly effective at preventing the disease. The virus cannot infect humans or dogs.
